Who serves the advertising

Advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense. No advertising is displayed until the site’s AdSense account has been approved and a publisher identifier is configured; until then these pages disclose what will run, and no ad code, ad cookie or ad request is present. The ads are selected by Google’s systems, not by us: we do not choose them, we do not sell space to a particular advertiser, and we do not know which advert you will see. We receive aggregate reporting only.

How you can tell an advert from our content

  • Every advertising unit is labelled “Advertisement” and is visually separated from the article.
  • Advertising never appears inside an article’s text, never interrupts a paragraph, and never sits above the article’s opening in a way that could be mistaken for the article itself.
  • Advertising is never styled to look like a link, a heading, a button or a recommendation by this publication.

Advertising has no influence on what we publish

  • No advertiser has any say in what this publication covers, how a litigation is described, or which sources are used.
  • We do not sell links, we do not accept payment for a favourable article, and we do not publish disguised advertising.
  • If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be labelled as sponsored, at the top of the page, in a way that cannot be missed, and it will be kept out of the sections that describe litigation status.
  • The editorial standards on our editorial policy apply to every page, whether or not that page carries advertising.

Where advertising does not run

Advertising is not placed on coverage of child sexual abuse or sexual assault litigation, or on pages where an advert beside the text would be indecent. Those pages remain fully available: they simply carry no advertising. This is a deliberate restriction that costs the site revenue.

Advertising is not advice, and not a recommendation

An advert appearing beside an article about a litigation is not a statement by this publication about a lawyer, a firm, a settlement, a claim or an outcome. Nothing in an advert is legal advice.

Payments and clicks

We may receive revenue from Google for advertising shown or clicked on these pages. We never ask a reader to click an advert, and clicking one changes nothing about the information you receive here.

Bad or misleading adverts

Advertising on a site can be inappropriate, misleading or simply broken. If you see an advert here that you think breaks Google’s policies, email editorial@collectiveclaim.us with the page, the approximate time and a screenshot, and we will report it upstream. We cannot remove an individual advert ourselves.
